AsiaCompete International Ltd. is a Hong Kong company with a 100% owned subsidiary in Shanghai. Our customers are high-tech multinational enterprises, R&D centers, manufacturing centers, as well universities and institutes in China and abroad. Focusing on the intersection of business and innovation in China, we help our clients to stay informed on the major technological and economic developments, enhance local management knowledge, and navigate with them the murky waters of R&D and innovation in China.

Earlier stations in his career include Siemens (USA), ATR-Labs (Japan), ETH-Zurich, Harvard University and IMD-nternational. Max co-founded in 2006 AsiaCompete International ltd. As a director of AsiaCompete, he brings in his competences in global R&D management and organization, particularly concerning R&D and innovation in China for both western and Chinese companies, as well as his many years of executive education. He has published ten books and more than fifty papers in five languages on global R&D, China business and innovation.

He has a double master in engineering and economics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH Zurich). As an engineer, he worked in integrated financial system software development for a global Swiss bank. In 2004 he moved to China to work for a joint project of the SwissCenter Shanghai, OSEC, SECO and the Swiss-Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Since 2006 he manages and develops AsiaCompete’s Technology Scouting Operations. He continuously sources technologies and startup companies for Multinationals, R&D centers, Venture Capitalists and Private Equity Funds. Additionally he is the delegate for the ETH Alumni Shanghai Network.


Team


Shine in GeneveShine Wu is M&A/PE advisor and project manager for AsiaCompete's clients. He previously was a consultant for Javelin Investments, a boutique investment bank from the USA. During his stay with Javelin, Shine had consulted 6 M&A/PE projects including hydro generation equipment, temporary power solution, water treatment, plastic valve, home appliance, and resin commodity. Shine obtained an MBA degree focusing on corporate finance, the full-time MBA degree was a collaboration between Fudan University and MIT Sloan. With the GPA of 3.8, he won a scholarship to study in University of Zurich for one semester. His bachelor degree was in automation engineering, and he also worked in the auto industry for 6 years, with most of the experience being accumulated in business development.

 

Xu Bin PortraitBin Xu is Chemical Expert for AsiaCompete International Ltd. He owns a bachelor from Jilin University (China), a master degree from the University of York (UK) and a PhD degree from the ETH Zurich (Switzerland). His research focus is on analytical instruments and catalysis. Previous career steps include RAE Systems in Shanghai (China) and BP International in Dalian (China). Bin offers experience in new products development, technolgy transfer and clean energy projects, including gas to liquid, coal to fuel, biomass conversion, and synthetic lubricant. He brings in his extensive experience with chemical and chemistry projects in China, in particular with technology transfer from academic research to commercial business. At AsiaCompete Bin is in charge of scouting projects for the chemical industry and acts as an internal advisor.
